You, Your Marriage, and God’s Supreme Glory

ONE Thought (from us)

Marriage is so much bigger than us, and that’s a beautiful thing. Marriage isn’t a societal convention, it has been designed by God and imbued with eternal purpose. What could those purposes be?

  1. Marriage glorifies God. As we conform our most intimate and important human relationship to his model, he is glorified by the result.
  2. Marriage is designed for human flourishing. Even sociologists agree: it’s better for couples to be married than not, and it’s better for children to be raised by his/her married parents. This shouldn’t surprise us; God made it that way.
  3. Marriage stabilizes society. As marriages go, so go families; and as families go, so goes society. If you want stronger societies, build a stronger marriage.

For the above reasons and more, let this be your reminder that your marriage is worth fighting for! It may not always be easy, but it’s always worth it.

We discussed this at length in this week’s podcast, “Should Non-Believers Even Bother with Marriage?. Hope to see you there!

“What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.”
(Mark 10:9)

ONE Quote (from another)

“Marriage is about our happiness, our holiness, and our wholeness — but it is supremely about the glory of God.”
― Albert Mohler

ONE Question (for you)

Have you considered the purposes of your marriage lately? How might reminding yourselves of God’s grand purposes for marriage help you work through difficult seasons you might face?
